iMatter As A Person

Year 7

I will learn about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up and puberty and maintaining positive peer group relationships; by studying bullying and cyber-bullying. I will make informed decisions and gain the skills and knowledge attributed to positive mental health and tackling issues around gender roles and stereotyping. I will take responsibility for my own lifestyle choices around the substances; smoking, drugs and alcohol.

Year 8

I will learn about the emotional, social and physical aspects of entering intimate personal relationships, by studying areas such as domestic abuse and exploitation. I will make informed decisions and gain the skills and knowledge attributed to staying safe online and when using social media. I will take responsibility for my own and others lifestyle choices around diet and nutrition and alcohol abuse.

Year 9

I will learn about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, maintaining positive relationships, consent, sex and the law, human sexuality and sexual health in relation to contraception. I will make informed decisions and gain the skills and values to have safe, fulfilling and enjoyable relationships, whilst taking responsibility for my own and others sexual health and well-being.

Year 10

I will apply previously learnt knowledge of emotional, social and physical wellbeing to maintain healthy relationships and develop as an individual. I will begin to identify personal qualities and interests that will enable me to recognise my future aspirations.

Year 11

I will apply knowledge of emotional, social and physical well-being to ensure I reach my full potential both academically and personally. I am equipped with the skills and knowledge to raise my aspirations and progress in my personal further pathway. I will continually develop understanding of my own personal strengths, building resilience and determination to overcome any challenges or barriers along my journey.

INTENT

iMatter as a Person because I will develop the knowledge, skills and attributes that I need to keep myself healthy and safe as a teenager and be fully prepared for adult life and relationships in modern Britain. I will acquire skills such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management and critical thinking in the context of learning how to look after my own health and well-being, and that of others.
