iMatter As A Computer Scientist

INTENT

iMatter as a Computer Scientist because I will be equipped with the computational thinking knowledge needed become a creative solution provider for the present and future digital workforce. I will be provided with a framework within which to reason about systems and my problem solving skills will be nurtured and developed.

Year 7

I will explore how to work safely and efficiently with computers and I will demonstrate a good working knowledge of key computer peripherals. I will demonstrate my knowledge of computational thinking, decomposition, algorithm and programming concepts. I must demonstrate sound knowledge of different number systems and the connection between colour depths resolution and file size.

Year 8

I will gain knowledge of operating systems, databases, web creation and algorithms and I will be able to select the best algorithm for given set of data. I will demonstrate my knowledge of the binary number system and programming concepts using python to develop code for different scenarios. I will explore networking and internet concepts and identify the purpose of LAN and WAN, including MAC addresses.

Year 9

I will gain knowledge of operating systems, databases, web creation and algorithms and I will be able to select the best algorithm for given set of data. I will demonstrate my knowledge of the binary number system and programming concepts using python to develop code for different scenarios. I will explore networking and the internet including the uses of LAN and WAN, including MAC addresses.

Year 10

I will extend my knowledge of systems architecture, memory, storage , wired and wireless networks, network topologies, protocols and layers, system security and system software. I will understand ethical, legal, cultural and environmental concerns. I will have to demonstrate a good working knowledge of algorithms, programming techniques, analysis, design, development and Testing.

Year 11

I will study: algorithms , programming techniques, producing robust programs, computational logic, translators and facilities of languages, data representation, input sanitation, code maintainability, the purpose of testing and types of testing. I will gain knowledge of Client/server models, MAC addresses, IP addresses, Domain Name services, cookies, HTTP server, routing, redundancy and error correction, encryption and security of networking.
