iMatter As A Sociologist

INTENT

iMatter as a Sociologist because I will be able to explain matters in our lives, communities and the United Kingdom. At a personal level, I will investigate social causes and consequences of racial and gender identity, love and marriage and family conflict and deviancy. At societal and national level, I will be able to critically examine issues of crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, migration and cultural diversity and the role of the dominant social agents. 

Year 7

Year 9

I will be introduced to the components of Paper 1: The sociology of families and education. I will learn about the role of both in society as primary and secondary social agents and I will learn the relevant areas of macro and micro social theory and the fundamentals of successful research methodology.

Year 10

I will be trained in how to think critically about human social life and how to ask important research questions. I design a social research projects, carefully collecting and analysing data and presenting my findings. I will know how to advise others in the way the social world works and how it might be improved. Most importantly, I learn how to evaluate and communicate effectively about the critical connections between social forces and personal experience.

Year 11

I will learn the set theory and research texts for my examination. I will further develop my ability to complete extended writing essays about the role of the formal and informal agents on dealing with Crime and Deviance and Social Stratification in society. This will include a knowledge of Social Inequality and the factors contributing to this. I will be able to link the main theorists to different viewpoints and comment on their findings and articles.
