Unit R082 – Creating digital graphics  

Students will learn about the properties of digital graphics and how legislation (e.g. copyright, trademarks, logos, intellectual property use, permissions and implications of use) applies to images used in digital graphics, whether sourced or created.

R085 Web design

This unit is based around creating an eco friendly website for client.

Student will be taught the purpose and component features of multi page websites in the public domain and the devices used to access web pages, including laptop, personal computers, tablet etc.

Student will gain knowledge of the various method internet connections, including; wired broadband, wifi etc.

Student will taught how how to  interpret client requirements for a multipage website (e.g. to inform, entertain, promote or sell products and/or services.

Student will gain knowledge target audience requirements and how to produce a work plan for the creation of a multipage website, to include;  tasks, activities, workflow etc.

Student will learn the skill of creating of create suitable folder structures to organise and save web pages and asset files using appropriate naming conventions.

Student will taught how to source and import assets (e.g. graphics, image, texture, sound, video, animation, text)

Student will know to create a suitable master page as a template for a multipage website in serif webpplus X6.

Student will be taught how to identify areas for improvement and further development of their multipage website (e.g. text, graphics, moving images, embedded content).

Student to produces a summary purpose and component features of at least 4 different websites in the public domain.
Demonstrates thorough understanding of the features and component of a website.

Unit R082 – Creating digital graphics


Understand the purpose and properties of digital graphics.

This unit focuses on digital graphics and how they are used to create magazine covers, CD/DVD covers, adverts, web images and graphics, multimedia products, games and other types of digital graphics.

Pupils will learn about  the properties of digital graphics and their suitability for use in creating images. They will interpret a client brief and produce a work plan for an original graphics creation and understand how legislation applies to images used in digital graphics, whether sourced or created.

Students apply knowledge and understanding of digital graphics to a range of different purposes.

They demonstrate independent research and the ability to investigate the properties of images sourced from a range of imedia.

Production of a high quality finished article which meets the needs of the client.

Students reflect and evaluate the success of the product in the form of an extensive written report, presentation, or audio commentary.

Unit R085: Creating a multipage website

This unit builds on units R081 and R082 and students will be able to apply skills, knowledge and understanding gained in those units.

This unit will enable students to understand the basics of creating multipage websites. It will enable students to demonstrate their creativity by combining components to create a functional, intuitive and aesthetically pleasing website.

On completion of this unit, students will be able to explore and understand the different properties, purposes and features of multipage websites, plan and create a multipage website and review the final website against a specific brief.

Students will produce a summary of the purpose, component and features of websites in the public domain.  They will demonstrate a thorough understanding and produce a detailed description of the devices used to access web pages. Students will produce an interpretation from the client brief and identify many of the assets needed for a multipage website which fully meets the client requirements.

Students will be required to create a logical and well-structured folder, master page and applied advanced techniques which are consistently used appropriately.

Students will review their completed website, which demonstrates a thorough understanding of the entire process of the project.

Students will need to produce a comprehensive report stating all their evidence to learning objective.

Students will be judged on how thoroughly they understand the purpose, features and devices used to access public websites.

They will produce a report fully outlines how well they interpret the client requirement, target audience and detail project plan.

Students will be judged on well they applied a range of advanced design techniques to create the multipage website and how well they reviewed their designs to thoroughly evaluate what went well and what did not, fully referencing back to the brief.
