Daily Update

6 January 2021

Dear Parents / Carers,

Vulnerable Students / Students with Critical Worker Parents

In line with the new regulations for schools, we are offering a provision for vulnerable students / students with Critical Worker parents.   However, I would like to encourage all critical worker families to consider whether their child can be cared for at home, where it is safest, for some or all of the time. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.

If you need to use this provision, please complete this form as a matter of urgency.

Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and something for break.  It is also important for your child to bring their own earphones as they may need them for their lessons.

Issue with Teams for Year 7 Students

We have identified an issue with Year 7 students using Teams.  We are working to rectify the issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

Staff Email Addresses

Several parents and students have requested email addresses for their teachers.  Attached to this email are lists of email addresses for all the class teachers.  I have tried make these lists user friendly by arranging them by year group, subject and class.  I have also attached a further document that provides you with the email addresses of some other staff.  I hope you find these documents useful.

Please bear in and that staff are not expected to check their email accounts at weekends, or before 08:30 and after 17:30 on work days.  Also be aware that some staff are part-time and they will not be checking emails on their day off.  Staff will respond to you as soon as they can, but please do not expect instant communication.

Help with Work

In order to assist our students further, from Monday, they will have the opportunity to speak to a member of staff live on Teams between 08:30 - 08:50 (tutor time) and 10:50 - 11:10 (break time).  I will provide more details later this week, but I hope this initiative will allow students to get answers to queries quickly on a daily basis.  Furthermore, can I please remind you that students can request a phone call when they complete the daily registration form.  They must specify the member of staff they wish to speak to and provide a phone number so we can call them.

Registration

Each morning, students must register using the link on Epraise - it will be under 'Tutor'.  They must register before 09:30 in order to get a mark for attendance.  From tomorrow, we will be texting the parents of those children who do not register.

Communication

Over this period, I intend to communicate with you daily by email.  We will also place these messages on our website, under ’News’.  Please ensure we have your correct email address and mobile number.  If you have changed your email or mobile recently, please complete this form so we can update our records.

Contact Us

Our new Contact Form is on our website under the 'Contact Us' menu item, or it can be accessed by clicking here.  This is the best way to communicate directly with us.
