Year 11 Construction Students
I would like to congratulate our Year 11 Construction students who sat an external examination today. They dealt with the whole experience with focused, dedication to their studies and great maturity.
Vulnerable Students / Students with Critical Worker Parents
New Government Guidance
On Friday afternoon, the Department for Education issued new guidance for vulnerable and critical worker children.
They state: "parents and carers should keep their children at home if they can".
Therefore, if your child can be safely looked after at home, or your child can be safety left on their own at home, then you should NOT send them into school. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.
If you are critical worker, and you do decide to send your child into school, please ensure your child has a packed lunch and something for break. It is also important for your child to bring their own earphones as they may need them for their lessons.
If you need to book your child into our provision for next week - please complete this form by Friday 15 January 2021 at 12:00.
Testing for Vulnerable Students / Students with Critical Worker Parents
We have now received our allocation of LFD test kits. Rapid testing helps identify those asymptomatic cases that might otherwise not be detected, causing the virus to spread further.
We will be starting initial testing of vulnerable children and children of critical workers who are using our provision on Friday. I will contact parents with the details in the next few days.
Feedback from today’s Distance Learning
Issue with Teams for Year 7 Students
We still have some issues with Year 7 students using Teams. We are working to rectify the issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. Please remember that this technology is new for us and doing what we can to ensure a smooth remote learning experience for all students.
Help with Work
In order to assist our students further, from tomorrow, they will have the opportunity to speak to a member of staff live on Teams between 08:30 - 08:50 (tutor time) and 10:50 - 11:10 (break time). I hope this initiative will allow students to get answers to queries quickly on a daily basis.
In order to access the Student Help Team, the student must logon to Microsoft Teams (using their school email and password) and follow the instructions attached.
Registration
Each morning, students must register using the link on EPraise - it will be under 'Tutor'. They must register before 09:30 in order to get a mark for attendance. Please ensure your child enters their full name when registering.
Furthermore, can I please remind you that students can request a phone call when they complete the daily registration form. They must specify the member of staff they wish to speak to and provide a phone number so we can call them.
