Daily Update

22 July 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

This is my 95th and final update of this academic year.  I hope you have found these emails informative and useful during this very challenging period.

We close the 2019/20 academic year with a range of contradictory feelings.  Sadness for those who have lost their lives, health and livelihoods to this terrible virus.  Pride in how we have all functioned together as a school community and supported one another throughout.  We can also feel positivity for the future – not only to deliver the best education possible in the safest way possible, but also to ensure that The Deanes comes back even stronger than ever in September, with a re-doubled sense of the vital purpose of education and a commitment to achieving our individual academic and personal potential.

I would like to pay tribute to the way that you and your families, have coped with the current situation. It is impossible to have imagined us working together in such circumstances – and I am enormously grateful for your understanding, positivity and resilience.  We have all needed to make significant compromises in terms of the way in which we have functioned and lived our lives. Your messages of support and positive feedback that you have given to us have been appreciated more than we can say.

Over the summer period, we can still be contacted should you need us.  Please use the contact form here.  The form is also on our website under the 'Contact Us' menu item.

I wrote to our students earlier today.  If they haven't already done so, they should check their school email.  Their Heads of Year have recorded assemblies for them to watch.

Mrs Derome has recorded an assembly for Year 7 and Year 8.  You can watch it here.

Mr Turp’s assembly for Year 9 and Year 10 is here.

And, Miss Gardiner has prepared a special compilation for Year 11 here.

I wish you all a very pleasant and safe summer and I look forward to welcoming all our students back to The Deanes in September.

Take care
