Daily Update

17 June 2020

Dear Parents / Carers,

I hope you all had a lovely day.

Provision for Critical Workers and Vulnerable Groups

In order to book your child into our provision this week, please complete this form -https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WB15JUNE/.  Next week's link will be available tomorrow.

This provision is ONLY for  parents / carers  who are critical workers or who have children that are classed as vulnerable.

I wish to stress that parents/carers retain the authority to decide whether school is an appropriate environment for their children. Parents will not be fined for non-attendance at this time, and schools will not be held to account for attendance levels.

Academic Review Sessions

Miss Gardiner has emailed all Year 10 students explaining the Academic Review Meetings she will be carrying out. Students will need to sign up for a time slot on their allocated day, as per their specific group timetable. The link for tomorrow’s sessions is - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ls6m0r35Leg_CI49Zwzf5NQ17Rn7CtDvFvOEqIzvo14/edit?usp=sharing

IMPORTANT - Students must not come on to the school site prior to their allocated time. When they arrive at school, they should wait outside of the canteen. Miss Gardiner will let them know when they are able to come into the canteen for their meeting. In the very unlikely event that 2 or more of the students are waiting for their meetings, they must line up outside the canteen, along the railings, standing 2m apart.

If you have any questions, please contact Miss Gardiner - dgardiner@thedeanes.essex.sch.uk

Year 9 Mock Exams

We have posted your mock papers to you this afternoon.   You should receive them before next Monday.  Students should follow the instructions below and return their mocks on or before Friday 3 July 2020.  Staff will be marking the examinations from Monday 6 July in order to ensure the Year 9 reports are issued before the end of term.

1.  Unpack your packs and ensure you keep the Stamped Envelope addressed to the school.  You will need to post your completed mocks back to us using this prepaid envelope.

2.  Check that you have all the papers you expect.  If you have any problems please email Ms Corp or Mr McKeown.

3.  Plan when you are going to complete your mocks - a template will be sent to you in the next few days which will help.  Do not do more than 2 per day and build in revision time.

4.  When you start your exams, set a timer and do not exceed the allocated time.  Equally, if you finish your paper early, spend the rest of the time improving your work and checking your answers.  Always use the full time you are allocated.

5.  When you have completed all your mocks, place them in the envelope provided and post it back to the school.  Make sure your name and your teacher's name is on all your papers.  The deadline for us receiving your papers is Friday 3 July 2020 - please leave enough time for delivery.  You can drop your completed papers to the school if you prefer.  We will arrange for a box to be outside reception from Wednesday 1 July 2020.

Year 10 Reports

Parents / carers of Year 10 students should receive an email this afternoon with your child’s report.  Within this report you will find their mock examination grades as well as the usual RAG and comment for staff.
