Our First Week

It has been a very positive first week back.  It was lovely to see all our students return and it was great to watch the new Year 7 students begin their journey at The Deanes.

Lessons have started with a very positive and purposeful vibe.  Students are managing to navigate the Zones and our new systems have successfully segregated the year group 'bubbles', while allowing a full curriculum offer.

One minor thing we are changing concerns the students who enter our site on foot. From Monday, all students who are in Zone 4  or Zone 5 must access these zones by walking past the nursery and continuing around to their zone.  Students in Zone 1 , Zone 2 or Zone 3 must enter their zones by walking past the canteen and continuing to their zone.  Staff will be around to welcome the students and guide them in the right direction.

Food Ordering

Our new pre-ordering system for the canteen is now live.  This system will enable us to provide food during break and lunchtime to all students and staff while maintaining the year group bubbles. Students and staff are able to pre-order food and have it delivered to them in their bubble at break and lunch time.  The process is simple and works as follows:

  • You are now able to login to a web portal -http://deaneshighpreorder.swift-order.co.uk/
  • You can pre-order food up to two weeks in advance.
  • You can check your child’s catering balance to ensure that they have sufficient funds to pre-order food.  Please use Parentpay to top up your child’s Cashless Catering balance.
  • You will be able to review all purchased transactions.

Your unique login details have been given to your child today (Year 7 received them on Wednesday).

We have updated our school website to include a link to the ordering system.  There is also a user guide for parents attached to this email.

PE and Dance Lessons

As you know, we have initially limited physical activity so we can ensure that correct systems are in place to minimise the potential spread of Covid-19.

From Monday 28 September 2020, we will gradually and safely be introducing a variety of sports into our PE curriculum.  Therefore, students should attend school wearing their PE kit on the days they are timetabled for PE lessons. This also applies to Key Stage 4 Dance students.

Parking

In order to ensure our children are safe, the school gates will be closed each day at 14:15 and will not open until the buses have left the site at approximately 15:05, (this will be one hour later on a Monday).  I understand that this may inconvenience some of you, but the safety of the children is my paramount concern.

Can I please remind you that should you choose to park outside the school on Daws Heath Road, that you do so safely, as there is very little space and be considerate of the residents who live along the road.

I appreciate your support in this matter.

Attendance Guide (Covid-19 Related)

I have attached a handy guide for parents in relation to absence procedures related to Covid-19.  Please familiarise yourself with it as it will enable clear communication between home and school.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
