Information about the School
The Deanes is a small secondary school where each and every one of our students can feel happy, respected and known as an individual within our safe and accepting community. We aim to create a positive and respectful environment for all members of The Deanes, with consistently high expectations and standards. Our curriculum caters for individual strengths and needs, enabling every student to make outstanding progress and provide them with extensive opportunities for personal development.
The well-being of our staff is a high priority. All staff at The Deanes have access to high quality training to further develop their teaching practice. Staff can take advantage of free gym membership and we are fortunate to have an onsite children’s nursery which may be able to accommodate your childcare needs.
The Deanes is well situated in South East Essex, with good links to public transport. We are situated within ten minutes of Benfleet and Rayleigh Rail Stations, where a 45 minute train journey will take you into London. There is also ample car parking onsite.
The Deanes is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to DBS clearance.
LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Role: Learning Support Assistant
Contract: Fixed Term until August 2023
Pay Scale: LG Scale 3 Points 4-5
Working hours: 31 hours per week, term time time only plus Inset days. Part time applications will be considered.
Actual annual salary: £15,185 - £15,462
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to enhance the learning of students who have a wide range of social and emotional needs. Applicants must be friendly, enthusiastic and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.

MInibus driver
Role: Minibus Driver
Working Hours: 12 hours per week
Contract: Casual, term time only
Hourly rate: £11.39 per hour plus holiday pay
We are currently seeking a minibus driver to join our school community. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school, as well as on field trips and other school-related events.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the health, safety, comfort and welfare of pupils and staff whilst being transported in the vehicle, carrying out vehicle checks before each journey, reporting vehicle defects and ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use. The candidate must hold a clean and valid driving licence which includes D1 OR PCV licence.

Job Description - Minibus Driver

Scale: 4/5 dependent on experience - Points 6-11
Actual Salary: £21,968 - £24,054
Hours: 37 hours a week / 52.14 weeks a year.
Core hours between 6.30 am - 6.30 pm
Responsible to: Regional Premises manager
CATERING ASSISTANT
Role: Catering Assistant
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week, term time plus Inset Days
Actual Working Hours: Monday 9.00am - 4.15 pm; Tuesday - Thursday 9.00 am - 3.45 pm; Friday 9.30 am - 2 pm.
Contract: Permanent
Pay Scale: Essex Pay Scale 2 Points 2-3
Actual Salary Per Annum:£14,177 - £14,434
Start Date: 17th April 2023
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and organised Catering Assistant to join our small friendly team. Duties include:
- Assisting with the preparation and serving of school meals.
- Using the cashless till system.
- All aspects of cleaning including floors, tables, cooking utensils and crockery/cutlery as directed.
The successful candidate will have, or be expected to undertake, the Level 2 Food Safety course.
