Qualifications at Key Stage 4
THE ENGLISH BACCALAUREATE
The English Baccalaureate is awarded to students that have gained a higher pass grade at GCSE in:

Maths

English
-
Double Science
-
A modern or ancient foreign language

History or Geography
GCSE
GCSEs will be graded on the new 1 - 9 system, with 9 being the highest grade.
The new grade scale will not be directly equivalent to the existing one which uses A* - G. However, broadly the same proportion of pupils will achieve a grade 7 and above as currently achieve a grade A and above. Broadly the same proportion of pupils will achieve a grade 4 and above as currently achieve a grade C and above, and broadly the same proportion of pupils will achieve a grade 1 and above as currently achieve a grade G and above.
BTEC Level 2 Award
BTEC Level 2 Awards are Level 2 vocational (career related) qualifications equivalent to 1 GCSE at grades 9 - 1, depending on the grade achieved.
They are graded Distinction, Merit, Pass, Level 1 Pass.
